I’m a full time musician and a full time recovering addict. My most peaceful, healing, and restorative moments have always been by water.
There’s a song called Swim written by one of my favorite artists (Andrew McMahon). It’s about ‘keeping your head above.’ As an addict - recovering or not - you always feel like you’re drowning, you’re not enough, you’re alone. Swim Effect came out of my thoughts around what happens if you keep going in those moments, if you keep swimming to the surface, to the sunlight: you find your purpose, you meet people and find you aren’t alone, you share your story, you learn good things about yourself and others, you spread positivity - you create a ripple effect. So I created Swim Effect to turn this idea into a movement in a world I feel most joyful, most vulnerable, and most lacking sober specific support: music
There’s this powerful idea that mind altering substances fuel a musician’s creative mind, are required to mask insecurities, put on a good show, and be a good time. I’m challenging the power sustaining that idea by creating a substance-free movement in the music world with Swim Effect.
We've received your message and will be in touch soon.
